Open RAR file with WinRAR, the world-famous compression tool to open RAR files, can also extract other archive file formats, create archives in RAR and ZIP. Open your ZIP files with WinRAR. Use the worlds most used compression utility to open ZIP files and other compressed file formats. WinRAR is a great tool for extracting files from their compressed formats. One thing that makes WinRAR so popular is the ease of use. There are several ways to open an archive for unzipping one method is just by clicking on the file to open WinRAR and by Drag-and-dropping the file to your destination folder. WinRAR is a powerful archive manager. It can backup your data and reduce the size of email attachments, open and unpack RAR, ZIP and other files downloaded from Internet, create new archives in RAR and ZIP file format. RAR is the native format of the WinRAR Archiver. A RAR file is a data container that can store one or several files in compressed form - it has the.rar extension. RAR provides a number of advanced features compared to other compression tools, including multivolume archives, tight compression, recovery record and repair and AES 256-bit encryption.

ZIP file extension is used to store compressed files in ZIP file format. ZIP file format and DEFLATE compression algorithm was introduced by Phil Katz in PKWARE PKZIP compression/decompression utility. It was introduced as an alternative to ARC compression format and because it was released in public domain quickly gained popularity.
ZIP files utilize lossless compression. Most common compression method used by ZIP files is DEFLATE which is a combination of LZ77 algorithm and Huffman coding. ZIP file format is defined in RFC 1951.
ZIP file format supports password based symmetric encryption. It is not recommended to use that encryption since there are multiple flaws in it which can compromise archive security. Instead using AES encryption is recommended. AES encryption is available in ZIP file format documentation since version 5.2 and is supported by multiple ZIP applications including WinZip.
Older versions of ZIP file format supported only 4GB files and could have only 4GB maximum size of archive. With introduction of ZIP64 specification extension, ZIP can support of files and archives larger than 4GB. Most of the modern operating systems support compressing and decompressing files in ZIP64 format.
ZIP file format is currently adopted by all operating systems including Windows, Mac OS, Unix, Linux and others. Windows Explorer and Mac OS finder can open ZIP file and uncompress its content.

What is a 7Z file?
A 7Z file is a compressed archive created by various file compression utilities, most notably, Igor Pavlov's 7-Zip. It uses open-source LZMA compression, which has a high compression ratio and can include strong AES-256 (256-bit) encryption. 7Z files may contain multiple directories or files compressed to save space for storage or transportation purposes.
Sublime open source. While 7z compression uses the LZMA method by default, the 7z format also supports the PPMD, BCJ, BCJ2, BZip2, and Deflate compression methods. The file type also supports Unicode file names, archive header compression, and file sizes up to 16,000,000,000 GB.
How do I open a 7Z file?
You can extract the files contained within a 7Z archive using a variety of decompression utilities, including: Flv player avi.
- 7-Zip (Windows)
- Corel WinZip (Windows)
- Corel WinZip Mac (Mac)
- B1 Free Archiver (cross-platform)
If your 7Z archive is split into a multi-volume archive (e.g. you possess a .7z file, a .7Z.001 file, a .7Z.002 file, and so on), you can extract all the files included within the multi-volume archive by opening the archive's primary 7Z file in a decompression utility. Note that, for this to work, all the files contained within the multi-volume archive must be stored in the same folder. Also, you must possess every file included in the archive (e.g. if you have a .7z.003 file and a .7z.005 file, but not a .7z.004 file, you may have trouble extracting your files).
